Prelimanary Magazine Exercise Evaluation

For my magazine preliminary task i worked with Louise, we designed the front cover and interior together. I took the photo of our model's Saskia & Leonie , and together we airbrushed them and cropped them out using photoshop. Louise then decided on colour schemes for our magazine aswell as fonts and positioning whilst i thought of some headers taht would make our target audience want to read more. To begin with we drew out our magazine of how we wanted it to look with our slogan etc. We were inspired by Glamour magazine. We used digital cameras to get a good quality picture of our model and then used a firewire to upload it onto the computers we then used various programmes on the computer such as photoshop to create our cover and interior. We had to take into account the Rule of 3 for colour schemes and fonts we realised taht any more colours than 3 often clahses and we also try to make our colours contrast and complimnet our model well. We follow the rule of 3, we have a title at the top of our page we have prices, bar codes, stories and things to draw the readers interest. The target audience is females who do textiles, we did this threw the use of colours and that we have used cover lines to appeal suchas 101 top fashion tips etc. Our magazine would only appeal to new readers as its our first ever issue and it says that on our cover. Our finished product i think is average we could have done alot better if our computer would let us do certain layers but we had to work around that whicg became very time consuming, also in hindisght i realised that we could have had a more colourful model so we could have incorporated some brighter colours. I have enjoyed doing the magazine front cover and contents page but i think overall i preffered doing the film prelim exercise as that seem to run alot smoother and i enjoyed the use of the different technology we could use such as garage band where as this got quite repetitive although i did enjoy the photo part.
